Wedding Cakes

At Southwood Cakes I strive to bring your dream wedding cake to life. Below is a rough guide as to the flavours I offer and the kinds of prices you can expect from me. 

 

​All my wedding cakes are made with quality ingredients, they are moist and bursting with flavour. Each layer is filled with a silky smooth Swiss meringue buttercream. Preserves, curds and fillings are generously poured between each layer making sure every bite encompasses all the flavours. All cakes are finished with a smooth white chocolate ganache outer coating. White chocolate ganache not only tastes delicious but it makes for a very secure structure to your cake, which is extremely important when a cake is standing on display for hours. Ganache stands up to warmer summer temperatures, giving me the confidence that the cake will still be in perfect condition for the cake cutting ceremony. Ganache is a more luxurious option and does cost significantly more than a buttercream covered cake, however I believe the benefits for both taste and stability outweigh the cost. The prices below are for fully ganached cakes, if you would prefer buttercream let me know and I will provide a separate quote for you. All prices below give a rough guide for cost and may vary depending on the style cake you would.

Cake Flavours

Madagascan Vanilla & Strawberry Preserve

Madagascan vanilla sponge with Swiss Merigue Buttercream and a British strawberry preserve. A true classic that everyone will love. 

Fresh & Zingy Lemon

A fresh lemon sponge is layered with a vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream and a generous layer of lemon curd. 

Biscoff

Brown sugar Biscoff sponge layered with Biscoff flavoured Swiss meringue buttercream and Biscoff spread. Optional Biscoff crumbs between layers. 

White Chocolate & Raspberry

Vanilla sponge with white Belgian chocolate chips & a raspberry Swiss meringue buttercream with a layer of soft white chocolate ganache.

Decadent Chocolate

A decadent moist chocolate cake layered with a chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream and a layer of Belgian chocolate ganache.

Salted Caramel

Brown sugar caramel sponge layered with salted caramel Swiss meringue buttercream and salted caramel sauce.

Lemon & Raspberry

A fresh lemon sponge with raspberries folded through, layered with a raspberry Swiss meringue buttercream and a zesty lemon curd. A soft white chocolate ganache can replace the lemon curd to tone down the 'zestiness' if required.

Chocolate Hazelnut

Decadent chocolate sponge with a layer of chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream, a generous layer of hazelnut cream and chopped hazelnuts.
